SOK programs are open to ALL people regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, abilities, disabilities, and financial status.  We never turn someone away who is unable to pay, for any reason.  That being said, EVERYONE MUST PAY A DEPOSIT IN ORDER TO ENROLL.  We require this in order to secure you or your child's spot in the class.

Financial aid and work-study programs are open to all workshop and class participants.  Mentorships and apprenticeships are offered only to select students.  Everyone, including those who plan on paying the full tuition, have the option to Pay What You Can! as you go.   

Financial Aid

Financial assistance is awarded on a case by case basis, so please don't hesitate to ask.  In some cases, full scholarships are available to qualifying students.  

Work-Study

SOK & footlights is always looking for volunteers to help out in the office, to straighten up the studio, to make copies, to put up posters for our events...the list goes on and on.  Because of this, we ask that older students (middle school and above) participate in our work-study program.  Tasks will vary depending on the time of year, age of the student, and skill level.  Most tasks will require time outside of class.  We do not require that a certain number of work-study hours be completed, just that you help do what you can, when you can.  Please call or email us in order to set up a work-study schedule.

Mentoring and Apprenticeships

Select students who are old enough to participate in our work-study program have the option to be a mentor or an apprentice in a class.  Mentors are individuals who take a leadership role in the class they are participating in; apprentices take on a leadership role in a class they are NOT enrolled in.  Both mentors and apprentices must have previous SOK & footlights experience.  Click here for more information.

Payment Options

Just can't pay the whole fee right now?  Don't worry.  Send in your class deposit and Pay What You Can! as you go.  Full payment is due at the last class, unless other arrangements have been made.  Feel free to call us ahead of time to discuss a pay schedule that works for you.
